With over ten years of experience in the geological industry, Allison is a Geological Engineer and Project Manager focusing on geotechnical concepts, environmental site assessment, remediation, and solid waste management across northeastern Minnesota. She has led impactful projects that have helped the northland protect the environment and keep a concise pace when developing the region further.

Allison works closely with state and federal agencies to make certain that projects are meeting environmental regulations and are done in a responsible manner. Known for her problem-solving abilities, she is skilled in handling complex projects with many moving pieces and finding solutions that some might overlook.

Beyond her work at NTS, Allison serves on the board of the Range Engineering Council and enjoys working with local students to introduce them to engineering and sciences, or anything within the STEM fields, showing her commitment to both her profession and her community.

Amy has spent the last 3 years at the NTS lab working in both the construction material and mining/energy sectors. She also works closing with geotechnical engineers to provide project support. Starting out as a lab technician to moving her way up to manager, Amy has a deep understanding of the full picture of lab practices. She specializes in wet chemistry determination of irons, along with the determination of silica content. She also provides services to energy clients looking for BTU analysis. Construction materials tests such as grain sizes, hydrometers, Atterberg limits, and proctors are among her proficient skill set. Amy uses her scientific background to analyze and report data. As lab manager, she works daily with clients to ensure customer satisfaction. Amy has previously served as the safety committee chair. She continues to ensure high safety culture in day to day lab practices.

Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children. Her favorite hobbies include golf, family side-by-side rides, and travel.

Brandy is the Environmental Data Management Lead with 30 years of experience in environmental analytics and data management. She started at the NTS laboratory in 2000 as a chemist and is excited to be back again after spending 13 years at the Wisconsin DNR as an advanced chemist, specializing in accreditation compliance and regulatory data review for NPDES, drinking water, groundwater, surface water, and soil remediation programs.

Her expertise spans laboratory analysis in commercial, government, industrial, and wastewater settings, with a focus on metals, inorganics, organics, and microbiological analysis. She has hands-on experience with low-level mercury, PFAS, Whole Effluent Toxicity, PCBs, pesticides, and hazardous waste analysis. Brandy has completed formal training with EPA Region V, further strengthening her knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards. She is a member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), staying engaged with the latest advancements in environmental science.

A longtime resident of the Iron Range, her family’s deep roots in the community span five generations. Beyond work, she loves exploring the region’s breathtaking outdoors and relaxing by the lake with her family.

Corey is one of our senior Environmental Field Scientists and Project Manager. Being with NTS since 2014, Corey is skilled in many tasks including well/river/stream monitoring and sampling, project coordination, scientific instrument maintenance, wetland delineation, and biological assessments using fish, macroinvertebrates, and aquatic vegetation. With his vast skillset, Corey makes for a perfect example of NTS’ wide range of services.

Corey’s certifications range from DNR training in Aquatic Invasive Species to professional wetland delineation and EPG pump maintenance. In past projects, Corey has handled NPDES compliance in stormwater permitting for the mines in the Iron Range.

Outside of work, Corey enjoys the outdoors when fishing and hiking with friends or family.

Craig has over 25 years of experience in the environmental field and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. In his role as Quality Control Officer, he oversees the quality management system and works with the team to make contributions to strive for the continuous improvement of our team.

Craig’s approach to quality, compliance, and data management is driven by strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. He brings over 25 years of experience working in and managing environmental laboratories with a focus on providing quality data for compliance projects.

Outside of work, Craig enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He likes to fish and play golf with family and friends. He also likes to travel with his wife.

Evan is one of our top Geotechnical Engineers, with a professional engineer license and a history with NTS since 2011. His professional history consists of being a project engineer for geotechnical and hydrogeological projects, and a technical manager within a materials lab.

He is the Western director of the Engineers Club of Northern Minnesota and has many trainings and certificates including being an FAA Remote Pilot, MDH Licensed Environmental Well Driller, and a Radiation Safety Officer. Evan’s key skills found to be most useful within NTS and our client’s needs are slope stability, foundation design, geotechnical subsurface exploration, hydrogeology, solid waste designs, and surveying with remote sensing (UAS). He also contributes to materials testing and control, soil, concrete, and masonry when needed.

Outside of work, Evan enjoys tinkering with technology and enjoying family life at home.

Frank Pezzutto is our Senior Geologist with 45 years of mining experience. Frank has a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a Master’s degree in Management from the College of Saint Scholastica, Duluth.
Frank, a native of Canada has worked in both the USA and Canada in the following capacity: grass-roots mineral exploration (base and precious metals, uranium and iron ore), exploration drilling, core-logging, and as a grade control geologist in both underground and surface mining. Frank also has extensive experience in project management, mine reclamation, ISO 9000 auditing, mine planning/engineering, and technical writing. As an MSHA blue-card holder, Frank is a good mentor for ensuring that new and experienced employees focus on working safely. Frank also has a Minnesota Department of Health Responsible Individual License for wells and borings.
As an enthusiastic proponent of responsible mining and related environmental stewardship, Frank will tackle any related project in a competent and professional manner.

Jenny has built a robust career in the environmental consulting field, leveraging her extensive knowledge and experience to manage complex projects. Her qualifications, including a Bachelor’s in Geology and a Master’s in Law, combined with her certification as a Professional Geologist, enable her to navigate the intricate process of environmental site assessments and investigations with confidence.
Her leadership extends to overseeing a wide range of tasks within the environmental consulting realm. She specializes in critical areas such as conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), performing Phase II Investigations, and developing strategies for managing soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapor contamination. Additionally, Jenny’s role involves facilitating the development of sites for redevelopment, including environmental cleanup and pre-demolition inspections, as well as handling the intricate technicalities of wetland delineation and geotechnical evaluations.
By working with diverse stakeholders, including private equity firms, government agencies, legal professionals, and business entities, Jenny ensures that projects are aligned with legal and environmental regulations. This collaboration helps drive successful environmental solutions for a variety of properties—ranging from residential to commercial and industrial uses. Jenny’s 20+ years of expertise ensures that these complex, often contaminated, sites are effectively assessed and managed for future use.

Jon is a chemical engineer with over seven years of experience in environmental consulting and wastewater operations and engineering. He has a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and is a Minnesota Class C Wastewater Operator.
Jon has worked on many projects because of his attention to detail and proficiency in technical subjects. His skill set includes environmental compliance, data management, wastewater treatment, pilot project management, and statistical analysis. He has significant experience working with industry and Minnesota environmental regulators to navigate environmental rules. Jon was instrumental in the development of Minnesota’s first full-scale landfill leachate PFAS treatment system.
When he is not in the office, Jon enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and board games.

Justine Henry is dedicated to driving organizational success through strategic HR leadership and safety management. She brings over 15 years of diverse experience in Human Resources, having held various roles throughout her career. Holding an M.S. in Human Resources Management, and certification as both a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), demonstrates her deep expertise in the field. In addition to her HR credentials, she has over 5 years of experience as a Certified Safety Manager, further enhancing her ability to foster safe and productive workplaces.

In addition to her professional work, Justine serves on the Laurentian Chamber Board of Directors and is the Past Chair of the Chamber’s Legislative Committee, actively contributing to the growth and development of the local business community.

Karissa is one of our elite Quality Control Officers, dedicated to accurate and consistent data storage and analysis using field data. Karissa has skills in NPDES permit compliance, environmental database management, and data verification while balancing technical report development. Projects she has been a large part of have mainly been handling NPDES permitting and Solid Waste permits while reporting to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

Being with NTS since 2017, she has molded the role of database and quality management around her abilities. Her certifications are that of basic DNR training, membership in the Hibbing Chamber Leadership Program, and ANAB data validation training. Karissa is a key part of the machine that is NTS, allowing us to juggle our many clients with efficient design and effective communication for the data we store and manage.

Outside of her role, Karissa enjoys the outdoors, golfing, and curling on the NTS Curling team.

Katrina has over seven years of experience in environmental compliance and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Environmental Engineering. In her role as a Project Manager and Field Science Team Lead, she has overseen various projects related to NPDES, stormwater management, and industrial compliance, making valuable contributions to our team.

Katrina is dedicated to gathering accurate data and navigating regulatory frameworks, which has been a key part of her work in industrial compliance. She approaches complex projects with attention to detail, a thoughtful problem-solving mindset, and a high regard for safety standards.

In addition to her professional work, Katrina is involved with the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME), where she supports advancements within the ferrous and non-ferrous mining communities. Her participation in these industry groups reflects her commitment to the sector’s ongoing development. She also engages in community activities like curling, golf, and fishing, which demonstrate her dedication to building connections within the broader community.

Katrina Davis’s combination of technical skills, project management experience, leadership in field science, and strong commitment to safety and environmental integrity underscores her dedication to the well-being of the communities she serves.

Kurt has been with NTS since 2008, when he began his career as a field scientist completing surface and groundwater monitoring in support of NPDES permits and baseline environmental studies. He transitioned to a project management role in 2010 and began managing many of those same permits within NTS’ workflow. He is a licensed MPCA Class C Wastewater operator and MDH Class D Drinking Water operator. He also has a certificate in Stream Morphology from the MN DNR. Kurt continues to devote most of his time to environmental compliance in the mining industry, overseeing NPDES permit compliance throughout the Iron Range and managing baseline environmental studies in support of Environmental Impact Statements and permit applications. With an ecology degree from Michigan Tech, he is also a key component of NTS’ ecological services.
Kurt serves in several organizations focused on educating the public about the importance of mining in society. Notably, he chairs the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) Foundation’s Minerals Education Coalition (MEC). In that role, he directs MEC programs to connect people with mining and mineral education. He is also the chair of the Minnesota Section of SME, which continues efforts to conduct outreach in support of the mining industry and provides professional development opportunities to its ~1,000 members. He was the founding board chair of Better In Our Back Yard, a grassroots organization advocating for responsible industrial development, and serves on the Laurentian Chamber of Commerce Legislative Affairs Committee.
Outside of work, Kurt enjoys fishing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico Provincial Park, and spending time with his wife and two children on family vacations to the mountains and warm beaches. He also lectors and serves on the parish council at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Babbitt, MN.

Lisa Rudstrom is a dedicated scientist with a master’s degree in chemistry and physics, currently pursuing a master’s in chemical engineering. Her expertise lies in environmental science, chemistry, and physics, with a focus on mineral processing.

As a team member at NTS, Lisa has demonstrated her proficiency in producing technical reports and coordinating ore characterization efforts for green steel initiatives. Her ability to conduct iron and silica tests (ASTM E246 & E247) is particularly noteworthy. Lisa’s expanded skill set includes state and federal mining and water policy, NPDES regulatory frameworks, Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt), and industry-relevant software, including JKSimMet, VisualMinteq, and Minitab.

Lisa’s career is characterized by her unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, process optimization, data management, project coordination, and technical writing ability. Her professional interests, which include direct reduced iron, non-ferrous mining, hydrometallurgy, permitting, and mineral beneficiation, demonstrate her dedication and focus in these areas.

Lisa is a vetted professional with a robust history of leadership and influence. Before her employment with NTS, Lisa taught college chemistry, environmental science, and college physics for 22 years. Her leadership roles in various community organizations, including the Range Engineering Council and Better In Our Backyard, are a testament to her dedication to promoting STEM awareness and responsible industry practices. Her influence has inspired others to follow suit.

In addition to her professional achievements, Lisa has contributed to local education and sustainability projects. She has toured and taught about noteworthy non-ferrous mining sites in Chile and holds a Vice-Chair position on the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Foundation’s Minerals Education Coalition Board.

Scott is our NPDES/SDS Compliance Project Manager and has over thirty years in the field of environmental science, dedicating his time to ensuring NPDES/SDS permit compliance work, Phase I & II site investigations, asbestos and lead inspections, field investigations in the VIC and PRP programs, groundwater monitoring & oversight, and environmental regulatory compliance. A few of his more unique skills are that of emergency spill response, data reduction and statistical interpretation, and water treatment sanitary and plan support.Scott is a key part of the NTS team, having been a part of us since 2009. His certifications are that of several DNR training courses, including Confined Space Training, Type 3 Waste Disposal Operator, Wetland Delineation Support, and is Certified in Asbestos and Lead risk assessment. These have allowed Scott to be a large part of every project regarding toxic or dangerous materials along the Iron Range.Outside of work, Scott enjoys the great outdoors and spending time with the family.

Tracy is currently an Environmental Engineer and Project Manager at Northeast Technical Services, Inc. (NTS) in Virginia, MN. In this role, she oversees various aspects of environmental compliance and management, including industrial compliance monitoring, well monitoring, stream gauging, and sample collection. Tracy’s expertise in NPDES permitting and compliance, wetland and ecological services management, and industrial stormwater management positions her as a key contributor to her clients’ environmental initiatives.

With over 20 years of experience, Tracy has previously served as an Environmental Control Engineer for U.S. Steel Corporation at the Minnesota Ore Operations – Minntac & Keetac facilities from 2004 to 2016. Her proficiency in permitting and compliance has been instrumental in managing significant projects, including the successful permitting of a demonstration scram mining project, which involved multiple permits such as NPDES/SDS, Air Quality, and wetland assessments. Tracy excels in collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies to prepare Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements, showcasing her commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory adherence. She also possesses significant expertise in ISO 14001 Standards and the implementation and auditing of Environmental Management Systems.

Tracy is a Registered Environmental Engineer with the State of Minnesota and holds a Professional Engineer License (#54807). She is certified in Erosion and Stormwater Management, specifically in Construction Site Management and the Design of Construction SWPPPs. Her credentials also include MSHA Certification, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Certification, and OSHA HAZWOPER Certification.

Tracy has been actively involved in professional memberships, including the Iron Mining Association Environmental Committee and as a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration.
Outside of work, Tracy enjoys spending time with her family at their lake home, where she engages in boating and fishing, experiences that enhance her appreciation for natural ecosystems. As an avid gardener, she takes pride in growing her own plants and vegetables, often using them in her cooking. This passion reflects her commitment to sustainability and environmental health. As a supportive sports parent, she encourages her children’s athletic pursuits, instilling values of teamwork and dedication that resonate in her professional life.
